  1. I believe that Katie's "Love and Hate" in the open minds section is the best piece of artwork throughout the Spirited Arts competetion. The reason I think this is because it shows how everyones views can break apart the world. Her work contrates on the differences, and the divide the western world has with rest the of the globe. I think her work can make adults realise that children do know about the important conflicts in the world and the arguements between races. We know it's not as simple as making up and forgetting, but we believe if everyone is a little more open-minded about people it would be one step further in making a better and peaceful place.

My Favourite is Mystery: In Space, By Gregory (17). If your not too sure which one I'm talking about follow this link --

Well, I chose this piece because the topic was Mystery, and in the picture there is a woman in the middle of space, shrugging. So what I feel Gregory was trying to say was - all the answers are in the universe but, the woman is shrugging so once she's got into space she doesn't know where to find the answers because so much is unknown and uncertain. Basically, you can't find the answers if you don't know how to find the answers in the first place.
Also, I chose the piece because the picture is really clear because as well as being drawn it was then put on Adobe Photoshop for the background.

The picture I have chosen is 'where is God?' from the 'Where is God?' section by Hannah (17) the picture shows a central figure that radiates the world around it. I chose this picture because it is highly relevant and very well thought out.

My favourite piece of art was from the Life Is Sacred section, by Nyima.
I really liked the idea of the crying eye, symbolising the eye of the world weeping for those sacred lives destroyed by another sacred life. I also like the images of the people, and the thought that everyone has lost someone they love. I thought it was a very well thought out piece of work with a lot of meaning behind it, and that showed quite clearly how special life is.

My favourite piece of artwork was 'Hearts and hands' by Molly age 12 in the open minds category. This was because I liked the way she used dull black and white newspaper headlines against the bright, vibrant colours of the handprints. Also I thought that it was an understandable message as all the hands had a religious symbol showing us that their are many people that have different beliefs and ways of living but they all unite to make the world. I think that Molly used simple yet effective ideas to portray her point and I like how she said that 'the hands of all humanity from every religion touch and hold up the heart of love for all the world'.

I like this because it is a symbol of sport and I like the Olympics and the coulurs used in the flame. :)

  8. i chose "Who is God?" by Hannah 17,
because it shows a figure of god which drifts into the sea and the lion is next to it (almost for protection) and the tree is next to everything. she has attcheved[?] trying to show how the world is complex.:)

  10. The picture I chose was titled Marbles. I thought it was a very imaginative painting and that the idea of the different planets being marbles was just fantastic! Out of all of the pictures I saw, I thought this one was the most inspiring. I also think this painting leads on to other questions and theories. That outside this universe there is another, but where is this other universe? and where is that?, and where is that? My list of questions and theories just go on and on!

  11. I have chosen the picture as my favourite from the category of mystery. It was created by Gregory (17) from Cotswold School, Bourton-on-the-Wate. I have chosen his picture of a normal girl in space because it is a real mystery of why she is in space and how she got there. It also shows space which is a mystery itself as nobody knows what is beyond our galaxy or if there is life other than ourselves. I also believe that it shows as the girl is shrugging represents that nobody knows the secrets the universe holds for us or how to find them as nobody has ever found a way to travel past our planets/planetoids. It is also a very good digital painting that was created via adobe photoshop and a graphic tablet.
